Dynamic Junction Control Unit (CENTRIS)
CHAOSTM, an image-based "Dynamic Junction Control System", provides traffic lights management by using data such as vehicle density and average vehicle speed at intersections. CENTRIS, which is described as the Dynamic Junction Control Unit, is in communication with the entire Vehicle Counting System (VIERO) placed at the intersection.
With VIERO, real-time counting of the vehicles on the intersection arms is obtained by image processing techniques, and vehicle density data is obtained. Vehicle density data is transferred to CENTRIS, the Dynamic Junction Control Unit placed externally inside the intersection control device.
The vehicle density data transferred to the CENTRIS unit is analyzed instantly by the system, and the light times at the intersections are continuously optimized. Thus, the waiting time of vehicles at traffic lights is minimized.
